Was selected by the Japanese Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to help promote foreign language education and grassroots internationalization in Japan.Awarded the U.S. Embassy of Tokyo funded Microgrant Initiative to introduce American culture and English language to students in their classroom by initiating an exchange project between students in Japan and the United States. The project titled “A Day in the Life” was to highlight some the differences and similarities between daily school life of the students.Collaborate with Japanese Teachers of English to plan carefully thought out English lessons that foster the highest level of linguistic retention; conduct 18 lessons a week to over 600 junior high students alongside Japanese Teachers of English by team teaching.Receptive of feedback from both my English teaching team, supervisor and surroundings in order to make appropriate adjustments in my job to consistently perform at a high level of competency.Overcome linguistic and cultural barriers to solidify my ability to work with others in a multi-cultural environment while gaining valuable insight into Japanese culture and language.Act as a “cultural ambassador” through language instruction to promote international exchange at the community level by serving as a general resource of English and American culture.
