Interim Role delivering Contract Management for Corporate Services

To work with the existing teams to help develop and improve the Contract Management methodologies

Recruited to develop and improve the end to end Supply Chain process, deliver cost savings and manage change to ensure improvement in business performance and shareholder value

I was recruited by Supply Chain as a member of the Senior Management team to set the Direction of the Supply Chain and negotiated contracts to support a Spend of £100m p.a. , a Fleet of 8000 cars, vans and HGV’s together with a significant range of large Operated Plant: supplied through 3rd parties. The implementation of Preferred Supplier Agreements, supported by New Operating Processes and appropriate SLA’s and relevant Kpi’s, has allowed the restructure of the operation. Achievements delivered included:• Introduction of Vehicle Tracking to improve the visibility and control of the engineers logistical issues including job sheets, lone worker protection, least cost routing and Health and Safety issues around individuals driving performance• Consolidating our service booking operations into an Outsourced provider we were able to improve the customer service, rationalise our service outlets allowing us to implement target stock holding around preferred brands driving improvements in the Total Cost of parts by circa 5%• Implementation of a new sourcing strategy for both Car and Commercial fleets allowed a full review of all ancillary and support elements delivering savings and cash benefits • Revised sourcing strategy for tyres involving new agreements with both manufacturers and service supplier which was based on Total Cost incorporating evaluation of the new EU tyre ratings • Fixed price service schedules with both Manufacturers and dealer groups• Alternate approach to the delivery, collection and disposal of vehicles• Incorporating a Sustainability focus into the sourcing strategy achieving a 9.75% reduction on CO2 and 9% fuel • Created a master tracking programme and process controls to manage new contracts and renewals including use of Supplier Accreditation, Automatic Contract Extensions, E Auctions and formal Project approval sign off for all major projects encompassing Ethical and Sustainable procurement and Total Cost Benefit calculations

Heading up an embedded purchasing team within a new business client my key requirements have been to develop stakeholder engagement, establish a Category Management Outsource Purchasing team, set up new reporting and operating systems and deliver business improvements

I provided a purchasing consultancy service offering professional purchasing support for companies looking to challenge current processes or needing to outsource non core activities and services included audits of current procedures, cost improvement reviews, fleet support and provision of consortium buying opportunities.

Restructured the profile of the Group Purchasing department to focus on Strategic operations and maximising cost reduction and process improvementIntroduced new Purchasing Policies and Procedures to address supplier selection, sustainable and ethical procurement and compliance Established formal agreements with over 100 of the critical suppliers created relevant KPi's and service performance levels delivering overall direct cost savings of 8% with some categories achieving up to 20% Introduced a Preferred Supplier programme to reduce and consolidate the supplier base from 5000+ in 2004 to 2157 in 2008 Represented the Supply Chain function on the Operating Board of the Consortium Company set up to bid for the 2012 Olympic Implemented a Group Fleet Strategy around the outsourcing of 450Cars, 1100 Vans and 150 HGV's consolidating 3 fleet departments into 1, reducing headcount by 40%, Created a culture of communication and involvement in projects through the creation of internal supply agreements Negotiated the contracts for introducing a new ERP system and exiting the current contract achieving savings in excess of £6m. Developed the Procurement and Supply modules encompassing P2P and stock management Through a Continuous Improvement approach we constantly reviewed and challenged current practice to reduce cost and improve process

Coordinating all activities and functions associated with the integration of two companies supplying design, manufacturing and installation of hospital and retail furniture· Formulated and implemented the plan to combine the activities of the companies· Managed “fast track” contracts for key customers including fitting out Selfridges in Birmingham and the new style McDonalds restaurants

Recruited to introduce controls and procedures across 14 autonomous business units having a spend of £80m operating with 500 mobile service engineers left when company was bought by Finning UK LtdImplemented a Central Procurement and Supply Chain Strategy delivering a 25% reduction in staff levelsDelivered year on year costs savings of 5% p.a. with some commodity groups reduced by over 20% Reviewed stocking policy and introduced an "In Night In Boot" delivery system reducing stock levels by 10%, parts collection times by 15% whilst increasing engineer utilisation by 5%Implemented a Europe wide Preferred Supplier sourcing strategy for Capital Equipment achieving cost reductions in excess of 20% coupled with improved service
