Malcolm joined Hudgell Solicitors in March 2018 to become the Head of their Child Abuse Compensation Department.

Malcolm worked in the Clinical Negligence Department of what was then Blake Lapthorn Solicitors in 2012. Later the firm changed its name to BL Claims. He began as an Associate and was later promoted to Senior Associate in 2014. He undertook child abuse, personal injury and clinical negligence claims, as well as advising the clients of BL Claims' parent firm, Blake Morgan on safeguarding issues.

Malcolm ran the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers from 2003 to 2011 as its co-ordinator. ACAL was set up to help victims of child abuse secure compensation for their injuries. It has around forty members and promotes a panel of experienced solicitors. Malcolm helped found the organisation in 1998 and was one of its first directors.
