This complex equipment includes:• IWT VHP chamber• IWT UV hatch• Astell/ESTS containment suite autoclave• Four Steris Finn Aqua large autoclaves• Two IWT Rack washers• Detach automated cage washing system• IWT Kronos bottle washing system• 200 Series standalone washer• 108 Tecniplast AHU's - a mix of Slimline, Touchslim and Smartflow units• 60 Tecniplast Cage Change Stations - Interactive BH-02 and BH-02A, CS5, CS48 ARIA and CS60 ARIA I provide onsite technical support to RSF aquatics equipment; an MK centralised aquatics system, four IWT ZEBTEC standalone aquatics units and an IWT ZEBTEC centralised aquatics system. Key aspects of my role are engineering, administration and trainer/assessor. As an engineer I provide:• First line breakdown support• Maintain tools and equipment for maintenance• Source and maintain critical spares stock• Source specialist services; i.e. fabrication of specialised trolleys, welding repairs, etc.• Coordinate routine in-house maintenance in such a way as to not interfere with production schedulesMy administration duties include:• Negotiating and maintaining contracts with outside contractors• Scheduling PPM and breakdown visits by contract engineers• Inducting engineers visiting site• Issuing permits to work using the RSF ePTW system• Writing SOP's• Carrying out risk assessments• Raising requisitions for purchase ordersAs a trainer/assessor I have written a comprehensive guide to the use of IVC's and present this as a training course for animal techs and support staff. I am also training and supervising a new maintenance technician to provide airflow equipment engineering support within the barrier area when I am 'dirty side'. Show less

I attended numerous health and safety courses and was the technical trainer for the Tecniplast animal technicians IVC training course; a course presented by outside consultants and provided by TUK for staff employed by research institutions throughout the UK. Based at Scottish and Southern Energy headquarters in Havant I was the on-site engineer providing support for three high speed mailing machines processing 4,000,000 sheets of paper per month. Using specialised tools and on-site spares I was directly responsible to the mailing room manager for keeping the machines running to maintain production schedules in this high stress environment. Given the unique nature of the museum exhibits it is critically important work is carried out to the highest standards; a major part of my role was to supervise the execution and completion of any conservation work carried out by volunteers ensuring it was done safely and to an appropriately high standard that wouldn't compromise the exhibit at the time or in the future.As a member of the conservation team I also assisted with aircraft handling to arrange hangar displays and was part of the ground handling team for the frequent air displays held at Duxford each year.
