Following the retirement of one of my colleagues, I continued in my current role of Tax Assistant, while taking on the additional responsibilities of the out-going VAT ManagerAdditional Duties:Overall responsibility for the timely submission of 8th Directive VAT Reclaims, including dealing with questions from the European Tax Authorities.Offering VAT advice to all aspects of the business.Making sure BMW and its systems conformed to HMRC practices. This involved making sure all of BMW's systems, across the seven UK sites, were compliant with VAT rate changes.

Compilation & consolidation of BMW Group VAT return's - with annual payments of circa £790million.Looking at the Partial Exemption calculation to see if it can be improved for the benefit of the businesses.Preparation of VAT return for BMW Automotive (Ireland) Limited.Preparation of monthly Intrastat returns in respect of BMW (UK) Manufacturing LimitedCompilation of Eighth Directive VAT reclaims for various UK companiesProvided assistance to UK Group VAT Manager on various audits undertaken by HM Revenue & Customs. Accurate and timely submission of data under the Construction Industry Scheme.Assistance to Tax Manager to complete and submit Group companies Corporation Tax Schedules using TCSL's Alphatax.Completion and submission of tax liability for Incentive Schemes and PAYE Settlement Agreements.

Supervision of small team.Involved the banking and allocation of received funds onto the appropriate customer's agreements.Authorisation of daily BACS Collection files.Set up new processes to increase security within team, including a new Excel based program to allow all areas of the business to request BACS edits without damaging the data already held.

Bank reconciliation of the Wholesale (Dealer Funding) and Treasury accounts, with transactions circa £100m per monthInvolved in the monthly Munich Reporting, ranging from month-end journals to completing the submission for review by manager. This includes answering queries from Munich in an orderly and timely fashion.Compilation of the BMW Financial Services VAT Return.Liaising with Group companies to arrange for the submission of Group VAT Return, with annual payments of circa £350million.

General accounting duties, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Credit Control on manual ledgers.Manual payroll dutiesInvolvement in the implementation of new accounting package.
