Malcolm MacLeod Dip Surv BS FRICS FCIOB CEnvMalcolm is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, and a Chartered Environmentalist, he worked in the construction and house building industries for more than 40 years in various roles before retiring as NHBC Director Scotland in April 2021.His career in the built environment began in the late 1970's, initially working with a number of small house builders, before becoming involved in housing regeneration in Glasgow during the early1980's which led to him specialising in Building Surveying. In the latter part of that decade he joined Scottish Homes, becoming responsible for project managing their new build, refurbishment and maintenance works programmes in the south of Glasgow. Whilst at Scottish Homes, he helped establish a new Housing Association through stock acquisition and was appointed its Director in 1999. In 2001 he joined NHBC as Director of NHBC in Scotland a position he held until retiring in 2021.He has held Non Executive Director positions on the RICS Board in Scotland, the RIAS Energy Certification Board, was a Member of the Cross Party Group for Construction in the Scottish Parliament, sat on several Scottish Government Working Groups and for several years was an External Assessor for the degree programme administered by the Built Environment of Glasgow Caledonian University. He is a past Chair of the Scottish Branch of the Chartered Institute of Building, and a past member of BSAC (Building Standards Advisory Committee) and was a member of the Expert Panel convened by the Scottish Government to develop a strategy for the introduction of low carbon Building Standards.Since retiring he has been appointed as Non-Executive Director on the New Homes Ombudsman Service Board, and the Home Fix Scotland Board, and is a judge for the CIOB Awards in Scotland.
