Co-founder, Chief Technical Officer and total tech junkie, Malcolm heads up Hooligan Development’s team of DevOps specialists to ensure everything is running smoothly (and glitch-free) from a technical perspective.While studying towards Information Systems Software Development, he crossed paths with Ricardo at the Computer Training Institute. After graduating in 2008, he went from Junior Software Developer to Senior Software Developer to Team Lead in less than 5 years, before leaving the comfort of full-time employment to create something he felt the industry was missing – a Dev Collective for developers, owned and run by developers.Malcolm’s career trajectory from college graduate to CTO has hardly been surprising, given that he rebuilt his parents’ PC when he was 9 and wrote first HTML code at the ripe old age of 12.Malcolm is a huge fan of continuous learning, and in addition to encouraging his developers to keep acquiring new skills, he is constantly reading about, learning and staying up to speed with new and emerging technologies. He has set himself a personal goal of learning at least 4 new technical things each quarter and aims to become certified in those technologies he has already mastered.While tech is where he truly thrives, Malcolm’s role at Hooligan also requires him to run their teams to ensure that work gets done on time and within spec. His duties include staff recruitment, training and management, as well as mentoring and the cultivation of the unique staff culture that Hooligan has become known for.
