About Malcolm Pickering
On leaving School, worked for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (Royal Navy) until 2010 when I was forced to retire due to a knee surgery. On retirement I had attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer (Supply Catering). A position that I held for 20 years. During my time with the RFA I had worked in many areas of the world and within our spheres of influence. I have also worked with and for many "interesting" people, within the armed forces and other areas of HM Government.I helped with the Poppy Appeal for Washington before retirement and then took over as the Poppy Appeal Organiser for Washington in 2010. I am now responsible for the postcodes NE37, NE38 and NE10 (Felling). I was asked to re-launch the local Legion Branch (Charity) in Washington in 2010. I was then elected as branch secretary, I stood down from all branch positions in March 2017. I became a Rotarian in Jan.17. I am a member of the Province of Durham Freemasons and within that organisation, as well as the Lodge, I am a member of the Holy Royal Arch and the Knights Templar. I also serve as a member of the Durham Masonic Hall management Committee.
