About Malcolm Riddoch

Dr Malcolm Riddoch has lectured at the university level in electronic arts and music from 2002-2013. He assisted in the creation and development of both the Electronic Arts Studio at the School of Contemporary Arts, Edith Cowan University from 2002-2006, and then the Composition and Music Technology degree stream at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts from 2007-13. He is a founding partner in independent online music label Hidden Shoal Recordings, formerly Secretary of the Australasian Computer Music Association (2011-12), and is Secretary of the Cantabrian Society of Sonic Artists Inc. and former Gallery Manager of the Society’s Auricle Sonic Arts Gallery in Central Christchurch NZ. With an education background in science, communications and philosophy, he has been actively involved in experimental electroacoustic music performance and electronic arts for over two decades along with working in the multimedia industry specialising in interactive design, digital media production and collaborative server development for online, commercial and arts mixed media installations. He is well read in both analytic and continental philosophy, as well as communications theory, and is currently publishing on the ‘hard problem of consciousness’ in analytic philosophy of mind from a phenomenological perspective.
