About Malcolm Thomson

I will be leaving my current role at the end of July . I have had an extremely productive experience working with some truly magical and talented people. I am a qualified nurse with over 30 years clinical Operational and management experience gained in acute and community health and GP federation settings. My expertise includes urgent care focused transformation, resilience and winter planning, commissioning, clinical governance, and health and social care development. Leading 0-19 services and working to develop strong CQC status. This experience, and my studies have contributed towards me becoming a resilient , credible leader of services at local and regional levels. My key skills and experience are proactive leadership, programme management, collaborative working, governance, quality assurance and communication and engagement, and governance and quality assurance. This experience and knowledge enables me to contribute as well-rounded member of the senior management team.As a strong operational leader I have a track record of being able to identify efficiency gains, driving operational effectiveness and quality through leading QIPP, CQUINs and quality audits.I hold a Masters Degree in Healthcare Commissioning, from the Health Services Management Centre at Birmingham University, where my research focused on outcome based commissioning models.Throughout my career I have coached and mentored junior colleagues and I hope to undertake formal coaching training to enhance my leadership skills.To enhance and support my personal development and professional growth I have invested in a personal coach. I am now seeking a new challenge which will allow my continuous professional development and growth in an exciting and vibrant environment.

Identified that the Trust was not compliant with the EPRR core standards, confirmed by formal assessment in September 2016 and resulting in the imposition of a remedial action plan by NHS England. Providing leadership and support to the team ensured that the Trust was “substantially” compliant by February 2017, and fully complaint by October 2017.
