Lead the Property Group Operating Model, incorporating the departments Arms Length Bodies including Highways England, HS2, DVLA, DVSA, MCA, VCA, Accident Investigation Branches, London & Continental Railways and British Transport Police.A wide ranging role, with a diverse team, covering all aspects of Corporate Real Estate across the Department for Transport estate including the main Whitehall HQ, asset management and professional property advice to the departmnents policy teams and assurance to key projects such as HS2.HS2 work includes Compulsory Purchase Compensation Code advice and client oversight of the purchase programme and sponsoring HS2 as agent to deliver a professional and efficient management regime of the purchased properties.Assets under management include Waterloo International, High Speed 1, railway depots and surplus departmental property .

Responsibility for 5 specific areas across the Network Rail buisiness:1. Construction - the planned maintenance, renewals and investment in the Commercial Property estate. Including retail at Managed Stations, the diverse arch estate and commercial letting of other surplus property. c6000 properties in total with an income of c£150m.2. Corporate Offices - the entire Network Rail office portfolio including acquisitions, disposals, refurbishments and fit outs. Day to day running and the facilities management of the estate. Secured the site in Milton Keynes and appointed the project team for the completed National Centre.3. Rail Projects - A team of Chartered Surveyors seconded to the various major rail projects to deliver the land and vacant possession required for delivery. Including Crossrail, Thameslink and many smaller schemes.4. Town Planning - Responsible for both securing planning consent and using and safeguarding the Permitted Development rights which allow the railway to function efficiently.5. Support - For all back office support to the business relating to lettings, management and land ownership records utilising a GIS mapping system.
