Avon Overseas was set up in 1971 to include selected creatives from all Avon European Countries. Work involved development of creative promotional campaigns to promote Avon products across Europe. We worked with the best photographers of the day and produced some fine work. The integration of multi national personnel in 'agency style creative teams' was a brave step by the management; these teams included mixed nationalities to optimise the multicultural atmosphere.The experience was unique, offering the chance to share ideas, experience and work with fellow creatives from all the major European countries within a genuine Pan-European operation.The cultural highlight was a 'European' Soccer Team which included English, Scottish, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Belgian players. Famously we played in a European tournament and against a team from the Knightsbridge barracks in Hyde Park; the result of the latter was unimportant, the memories of the match and the social time afterwards, live on... as do those of working closely with and learning from some great creative colleagues; particularly those from Germany.
