I was born in Omaha, Nebraska and moved with my family to Michigan after receiving threats from the Ku Klux Klan. I found my religion in prison where I first converted to Islam. I began public speaking shortly after getting out of prison bringing a voice to African American during segregation. In my early speaking days I advocated for the end of segregation at whatever cost even if it meant violence. I resented those that believed that they were better then me based simply on the color of my skin. I was often thought of a as a revolutionistAfter years of promoting violent protests for change I changed my views after a trip to my religions birthplace in Mecca. I realized the error of my ways and that I was truly not embodying the Islamic faith, I had truly made a mistake and mislead my people down a dark path. I can only hope I can rewrite my mistakes and bring the right message to the people.
