Responsible for project leadership from candidate selection through Ph1a and Ph1b to deliver a well characterised molecule for Ph2 development. Ph1 campaigns centre around the 'three pillars' approach to fully understand the exposure and pharmacology profile in human subjects, and a subsequent well designed Ph1b study to demonstrate evidence of disease modification or proof of mechanism on a patient background. There is a strong translational science element to take preclinical observations into a clinical setting.I continue to be responsible for the development of novel human translational models of disease, and their implementation into drug discovery projects. The intent is to deliver high quality translational models capable of assisting early Proof-of-Concept decision making in drug discovery, through collaboration with high quality external partners.

Responsible for managing disease biomarker strategy and execution within respiratory disease areas.Generate and drive strategy to identify target engagement & disease relevant endpoints, and patient population used in clinical studies. Ensure these are then delivered in Ph1 and Ph2 studies. Feed all clinical biomarker information into discovery activities and translate ongoing preclinical research into meaningful and achievable clinical endpoints.

A years secondment spent project managing the out-licensing of a GSK asset and programme. I was responsible for the creation of a business plan and subsequent presentation to Venture Capital groups to raise the finance required to externalise GSK assets.I gained significant experience in the biotech start-up landscape, and the opportunities for funding.

Short post doctoral position investigating M2 proton channels in the influenza virus. Largely electrophysiology based project using molecular biology techniques for expression and manipulation

Post doctoral position in the labs of the NIAAA investigating effects of cannabinoids on vascular preparations. This position largely involved the electrophysiological study of potassium ion channels linked to cannabinoid receptor activation in endothelial cells. A variety of other techniques were also used to measure intracellular markers of activation.
