Techforce (Feb 2023 – May 2023)Maintenance Planner/SchedulerThis was a short-term contract role for 4 months.Plan and schedule corrective and preventive maintenance activities for trucks and ancillary equipment onsite for BIS Industries at the Murrin Murrin mine site.My responsibilities included the following:• Plan and schedule corrective and preventive maintenance activities by task and priority through work orders on the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS)• Prepare work packages for all planned maintenance activities inclusive of repetitive maintenance.• Manage work orders, documentation, parts consumed and asset history within the CMMS;• Obtain parts quotes, raise requisitions, and update site registers.• Manage spare parts and the alignment between the maintenance team and stock on site.• Raise BOM’s for regular maintenance works.• Coordinate daily as well as weekly planning meetings related with maintenance.• Create schedules and Gantt charts for planned shutdowns.• Coordinate plant-wide shutdowns.• Record and report on availability, downtime and performance on the fixed and mobile equipment.• Obtain Supplier quotes for services and schedule site works.• Manage (in conjunction with Perth Assets) repairs to machinery and components off site.• Provide technical assistance for supporting entire on-site maintenance activities; and• Train employees on how to use the CMMS.Software used – JDE, MS Office Suite

To develop planning and scheduling for the following divisions: Forrestfield, Kwinana, Picton & Esperance rolling stock depots to ensure optimal business performance.Ensure plans owned by division are scheduled and acquitted with 100% compliance to due intervals as specified in the approved system. Participate in daily communication across functions and relevant planning teams to ensure the existence of work plans. Work with relevant teams to agree with capacity and operational timeframes and commitments. On a daily basis, work with relevant teams to optimise the services interface to minimise down time around the acquittal of works. Assist relevant teams to ensure governing rules, processes and systems are delivered and support scheduled works. In conjunction with relevant schedulers working within a specific field, drive standardisation of scheduling processes across corridors and facilities. Drive year on year improvements through the optimized scheduling and execution of plans. Work with leaders and planners to drive year on year improvements in productivity and cost reduction.

Roy Hill Rolling stock division is in the development phase of the project and I have been involved from the beginning of the planning phase. This involves the following:Develop functional location and equipment structures for assigned rolling stock assets. Contribute to asset criticality ranking and risk reviews. Develop and implement maintenance tactics based on mitigating failure risk using RCM and FMECA techniques, OEM manuals and technical data. Identify statutory & regulatory requirements for inclusion in maintenance strategies. Develop and refine accurate work scopes for planned maintenance activities ensuring that estimates for labour, skills materials, equipment and external services are included. Identify equipment spare parts; raise requests for cataloguing and construct bills of material. Develop and refine zero based budgets for rolling stock, plant and equipment.The Operational Phase which will commence shortly will involve all aspects of short and long term rolling stock maintenance planning.

Perth, Australia

Collated, developed, implemented and executed ERP master data for clients (FMG, BHP Nicklewest, Citic Pacific), in a timely and cost efficient manner and in alignment with the client or project requirements. Formulated, developed and monitored long, medium and short term maintenance schedules and budgets. Managed the technical details in the maintenance management system. Fully planned and scheduled work orders that optimized labour, materials, external services, costs and duration, whilst following all business processes. Developed and managed plant shut-down plans. Acted as a point of contact for feedback from maintenance crews and supervision. Created and maintained asset bill of materials. Kalagadi Manganese Mine, Northern Cape, South Africa

Employed by Grinaker-LTA as the site planner for the construction of the process plant at the Kalagadi mine near Hotazel in the Northern Cape, South Africa. I managed the daily plan and made alterations and revisions to the MS Project plan when requested by the site manager or Outotec who were the consultants on the project. Outotec is a firm of German civil consulting engineers who were in charge of the project. Daily deliveries had to be checked to ensure that all the required material and resources were available on site before work could be scheduled. The work had to follow the plan as closely as possible so that it did not impact on any other tasks, cause unnecessary delays or affect the project completion date. I produced the S curve and performance graphs which illustrated daily and weekly performance and also compiled the fortnightly report which had to be submitted on time to the Grinaker project manager and client.

Lumwana Copper Mine, Zambia

Was responsible for all the short term planning for the truck and excavator fleet and had two short term planners that reported to me. Compiled the weekly and monthly reports for Hitachi and LMC (Lumwana Copper Mine) management. Performed planning and scheduling for a fleet of 27 Hitachi 4500 off-highway dump trucks and a fleet of 8 Hitachi 5500 electric and diesel shovels on site. Compiled weekly forecast for truck and excavator services. Made up a weekly project plan for planned maintenance. Attended to outstanding work and works order backlogs. Drew up project plans for equipment refurbishments and weekly Maintenance. Ordered spares. Evaluated and made up maintenance schedules and task lists. Also compiled MS Project shut-down plans for machine outages. Worked on Pronto Computerised Maintenance Management System and also used MS Project.

Anglo Rustenberg Platinum Mine.

Managed the daily plan and made alterations and revisions to the MS Project plan when requested. Made additional shut down plans and prepared the plan for a large lift. Performed planning and scheduling for locomotives and mobile equipment on site which included earthmoving equipment, mobile cranes, heavy duty vehicles and light vehicles. Formulated, developed and monitored long, medium and short term maintenance schedules and strategies. Fully planned and scheduled work orders that optimized labour, materials, external services, costs and duration whilst following all business processes. Worked closely with the Supervisor and Service crew. Also acted as a point of contact between them and the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent. Developed the Functional Location Structure and Bill of Materials for the Locomotive Fleet. Created and maintained assets and Bill of Materials. Initiated and managed off site repairs. Analysed available data and highlighted areas of concern and highlighted faults that needed to be rectified. Made up a weekly project plan for planned maintenance. Attended to outstanding work and works order backlog. Drew up project plans for equipment refurbishments and ordered spares. Evaluated and made up maintenance schedules and task lists. Performed life cycle analysis. Made up the weekly / monthly / 3 monthly / 6 monthly Maintenance Schedule for the locomotive and earthmoving equipment and produced the weekly MS Project Plan. Also held weekly Maintenance meetings with the Maintenance Superintendent and Supervisors. Other software used beside SAP was MS Project, MS Excel and MS Word.

Richards Bay Area, South Africa

Worked on locomotive and earthmoving equipment. Overhauled and maintained General Motors and General Electric diesel electric locomotives. Performed fault finding on locomotive equipment as well as mechanical, electrical maintenance. Attended to breakdowns. Worked standby when required. Raised SAP notifications for work and spares. Completed schedules. Planned workload with the planner and arranged extended maintenance outages with Operations department. Used electrical and mechanical fault finding equipment as well as electrical and mechanical schematics for fault finding. Overhauled and maintained earthmoving machinery. Attended to planned maintenance. On two occasions I acted in the position of Services Superintendent for a period of six months in total.

Performed maintenance and overhaul of Komatsu earthmoving equipment in the equipment workshop. Carried out pre delivery services on new machines and from time to time, worked on machines that had been traded in which were repaired and sold. Worked at the following Locomotive Depots whilst employed by South African Railways: Cambridge Loco depot, East London (Jan 1973 – Dec 1975), Wentworth Loco depot, Durban (Jan 1976 – June 1977), Richards Bay Loco depot, Richards Bay (June 1977 – Dec 1988).Overhauled and maintained General Motors and General Electric diesel electric locomotives. Carried out mechanical, electrical maintenance and fault finding on locomotive equipment. Worked shift work when required. Completed schedules. Used electrical and mechanical fault finding equipment as well as electrical and mechanical schematics for fault finding. Used GM and GE special tools as well as ordinary tools to perform maintenance in accordance with manufacturer and company requirements. Worked as part of the derailment team which attended to derailments and breakdowns during and after work hours. Acted in the position of Technical supervisor for a period of 6 months. This included strict adherence to a planned maintenance program, the allocation of work to subordinates and necessitated monitoring their performance. The position also demanded fault diagnosis on G.M and G.E. type locomotives and the responsibility for the ordering of all spares for the section under my control.
