Developed Mafunzo Loop, an app developed to help parent's stay in touch with their child's education as well as for schools to cultivate a vibrant community of parents, teachers and students.The Loop app has been developed to include features that digitise tasks that otherwise felt mundane. On the Loop app, staff, parents and students are able to see what's happening within their learning community as it happens. Features such as announcements, calendar and timetable keep students and their accountability partners involved in their day to day learning experience. It also helps make sure parents don't miss the big things like sports day, prize giving day or even recitals.Beyond being involved the app is designed to allow the three key stakeholders of education (parents, teachers and students) to be in a harmonious loop of communication via the messaging feature. Parents can ask questions and teachers can answer them instantly, without having to give out any personal phone numbers or contact details.As well as that, features such as the bus tracking feature and the timetable feature keep you aware of where your child is whether it's in traffic on Langata Road or in a class daydreaming. In partnership with 254 Comics, I developed a 2D game around the story of an African warrior going by the name Luanda Magere. 254 Comics focuses on African stories through comics. As a part time lead game developer I helped grow the startup’s digital presence through the video game. This also allowed the startup to participate in Tech crunch Startup Battlefield Africa 2018 Nairobi under the gaming criteria. The game’s codebase is now open source (Previously a closed private project) and open to further development.
