Gis Specialist Intern

Usaf 21St Space Wing, Civil Engineer Squadron, Execution And Support

Peterson Afb, Colorado Springs, Co

Updated 2,943 Peterson AFB fence features; categorized by type: interior, security, and boundary that supported the USAF Financial Improvement Audit Readiness program. AutoCAD drawings, Peterson AFB 2014 6-inch imagery, onsite data attribution and measurements; to include the use of a Trimble GeoXH 6000 Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS); were all used in order to help identify, validate, and edit fence features. Executed a statistical query in ArcMap 10.1 so that duplicate fence features could be eliminated; by doing so; proper fence feature types and linear feet amounts were represented. Began the process of validating, determining the location, and the collection of infrastructure geospatial data IAW Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) standards for: 601 outdoor wall structures, 1134 barricade points, 21 barricade systems (electric and non-electric), 341 access control gates, 915 storm-sewer direct inlet points (curb inlets, roof drains, drop inlets, and catch basins); 330 manholes, 79 culvert lines, and paved ditches. Infrastructure location was accomplished by using a Trimble GeoXH 7000 GNSS with enhanced real-time correction. While GNSS mobile mapping with enhanced real-time correction provided infrastructure locations within 10 cm; The Trimble TSC 3 with R8 antenna achieved survey grade accuracy of 4 cm or less. Infrastructure data attribution with the GNSS occurred within the feature's shapefile contained within ArcPad that was installed in the GNSS unit. Active Sync software was utilized in the processing of feature shapefiles to and from GNSS units. Upon processing completion; shapefiles were assigned a geodatabase in ArcMap 10.1; which were eventually edited to display as a feature class layer in ArcMap 10.1. Infrastructure feature edits were shared with AutoCAD and Survey Technicians, and the department's Geospatial Information Officer so that updates could be made.
