I worked as an assistant engineer, doing technical research and a feasibility study. IP analysis, risks and opportunities, bill of materials, and component costing were my primary responsibilities. A presentation document was delivered along completion.

I assist as an FDM 3d printing technician when parts are required for undergraduate courses in the department. This included the setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, scheduling and running of FDM machines, including the Ultimaker2+, Ultimaker3, Prusa Mk3, Prusa Mk4 and Ender 3.

I tutored undergraduate courses in the Mechanical Engineering Department during my postgraduate years. The courses included Vibrations, Mechanical Design, Product Design, Stress Analysis and Materials, and the Honours Research Projects.

I assisted students and researchers in the African Robotics Unit (ARU) with the mechanical aspects of their projects and builds. I assisted in three distinct projects: The Force Floor, Wildpose, and Deeptrap. These projects pushed my knowledge and experience of mechanical design and exposed me to design for manufacturing. I did a lot of the fabrication myself, gaining hands-on experience with a wide variety of manufacturing techniques.

Forming part of my practical work for my BSc, I interned at the Kelpak manufacturing plant where I shadowed their maintenance team. I also assisted their operations team with quality control by conducting a capability study of the bottling machine on their production line.
