Latest newsI'm very pleased and proud to have accepted the 2013 Excellence in Property Management Award from the Association of Chief Estate Surveyors and Property Managers in the Public Sector (ACES). The Award was made on Nov 1st 2013 at the Annual ACES Luncheon in the Marble Room at Cardiff City Hall. In thanking ACES President, Andrew Wild, I was able to confirm the contributions from colleagues in the team, Anne Parker and Murray Quinney in respect of property coordination scheme which we facilitated to bring 7 government bodies into a former BIS building at 21 Bloomsbury St - thus securing full occupancy of the building and allowing the release of 9 other buildings from the central civil estate generating approx £60 million savings over a 10 year period.Winning the Award reflects not only the specific qualities of the Estate Rationalisation scheme which we submitted but also the wider public sector engagement which we in GPU have been developing with ACES. We have, we hope, made a very positive impression with ACES and readily acknowledge that the London Branch have made us very welcome - particularly Jeremy Pilgrim and Chris Rhodes (Southwark BC) and Andrew Wild (City of London).The liaison with ACES was intended to develop further the engagement with the wider public sector in London that I had initiated back in 2009 with the setting up of the Westminster and Whitehall wider public sector property group - comprising Parliamentary Estates, Met Police, NHS London, University of Westminster, GLA, TfL, Westminster CC, RB of Kensington and Chelsea as well as ourselves (OGC).
