Senior member of small Unix systems team responsible for providing a variety of large-scale messaging, directory and authentication, and instructional computing services to the undergraduate school (FAS). Environment consists mainly of 250+ RedHat and Ubuntu Linux production and development physical and virtual Xen servers deployed in multiple locations.• Principle for FAS e-mail (IMAP/POP and SMTP) systems supporting twenty-five thousand users and approximately two million messages per day. Systems engineered almost entirely with Open Source software - Postfix, UWash and Dovecot IMAP, Spamassassin, Rbldnsd, Bind, Procmail, Amavisd-new, ClamAV, Dkimproxy, Mailman, and Cloudmark Authority (commercial plug-in for Spamassassin).• Team lead for Puppet configuration management system for 200+ Unix systems. • Provide ongoing care and feeding of core infrastructure platforms and services, including Xen virtual server infrastructure, Network Appliance (NFS) and Equalogic (iSCSI) storage devices, LDAP (OpenLDAP and RHDS) and Kerberos infrastructure, XMPP/Jabber services, Apache web servers, and monitoring platforms (Nagios, Cacti, and Splunk). • Developed and/or maintained various automation, provisioning, and reporting tools in Perl, PHP, and shell.

Provided Unix systems administration services for the ServiceCenter product development organization as well as for the corporate IT organization. • Implemented and managed all corporate inbound/outbound mail relay systems including spam and AV filtering utilizing open source software - Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Postfix, Spamassassin, ClamAV, and Amavisd-new. • Implemented and managed corporate tape backup and archiving solution for 175+ servers, three NAS devices, MS-SQL databases, and MS-Exchange servers with over 15 terabytes of total data. Performed a variety of general Unix systems administration engineering and support tasks focused on AT&T managed dedicated and shared web hosting applications - Apache, Bind, FTP, Sendmail, and Oracle and SQL 7/2000 databases as well as a range of custom and commercial application server products. • Engineered a multi-platform network backup solution for AT&T managed hosting environment consisting of a dedicated Fast Ethernet/Gigabit tape backup network, Veritas NetBackup software, Sun E450 Solaris tape backup servers, and a StorageTek 9740 Timberwolf tape library with a capacity of storing up to 30 terabytes of data. • Lead support engineer for CMP Media’s managed hosting datacenter environment of approximately fifty Solaris systems consisting of UltraSPARC-2 Apache web servers, DNS, and management systems; clustered E4500 Oracle database servers with direct-attached (FCAL) EMC Symmetrix storage and Network Appliance F630 and F740 network attached storage systems (NFS), and Alteon local server load balancing devices. • Designed and implemented SMTP, DNS, and NTP infrastructure across twelve AT&T datacenters.
