Marcelo is a passionate advocate for the Latino community and a first-generation college student currently pursuing Political Science at Northern Virginia Community College. A proud Guatemalan immigrant, his personal journey fuels his commitment to empowering others through education, immigration reform, and community engagement.During his first year of undergraduate studies, Marcelo interned for U.S. Senator Tim Kaine, where he focused on immigration issues that are deeply personal to him. At just 20 years old, he became one of Virginia's youngest campaign managers, leading Diana Brown’s historic victory for the Manassas City School Board. In this role, he worked to amplify the Latino voice in local education and advocate for greater representation.In addition to his political work, Marcelo is a founding board member of Dream in NOVA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering inclusivity and equity in Northern Virginia. He collaborates with legislators, community organizations, and nonprofits to elevate the voices of the Latino community and drive meaningful change. With a focus on higher education access, immigration reform, and equitable representation, he is determined to continue making an impact .
