Mallory Dyer was previously a Professor of Mathematics at Central Arizona College before transitioning to the world of EdTech. She was also an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Central Arizona College, an online math tutor, and an Actuary. Mallory won the 2015 NISOD Award for Teaching Excellent and also won the NJCAA National Championship in Women's Basketball both as a player and a coach. Throughout her career in the classroom, she has seen the economical impact on her students and how many challenges have arisen because of it. Mallory has also witnessed numerous changes in the classroom due to the growth of technology and how students have become more visual learners. She noticed many students did not have the funds to purchase a graphing calculator and watched many of them struggle through math concepts because of it. This lead to frustrated students who often lost confidence in their mathematical abilities. She knew her students would not have struggled as bad if they had been able to visually see the concepts and use a proper calculator. Mallory also noticed that almost all of her students had a smartphone and always had it with them. Knowing the majority of students will need a calculator for at least one course, lead her to the idea of creating GraphLock to help out students everywhere and at all education levels. So now, students can use their phones as a calculator at home, in the classroom, and also on exams.
