Student Trustee
As the GECDSB Student Trustee for the City of Windsor region, I was responsible for advocating alongside my peers at the board level. As a member of the board of trustees, I was entrusted the responsibility to voice concerns of the student body; approximately 36,000 students across Windsor Essex. I was also responsible for co-chairing Student Senate, a committee comprised of student leaders across Windsor Essex that took on various initiatives to better the learning environment of students. I helped found the boards first ever Student Achievement & Development committee which was responsible for helping foster academic success and providing academic resources for students, with an emphasis on post-pandemic learning recovery. I also played various roles in the development of policy and regulation. This includes the reworking on the Student Trustees election process which was the boards first ever true election process. Working alongside fellow trustees, a motion at the board level was supported and passed to ensure the role of a student trustee is overseen and protected by fellow students. Moreover, I was a member of the Ontario Student Trustees Association (OSTA-AECO) general assembly which advocated for and represented over two-million students across Ontario. This presented several opportunities to network and work with municipal and provincial leaders to foster a better environment for future learners.
