BACKGROUNDMalene Grotrian is a fashion designer and abstract artist. She graduated in fashion design in Denmark where she was born and raised. After furthering her design and fine art studies in Italy, Malene moved to Canada to work in the fashion industry for a women’s tailoring company and dress manufacturing company. Malene moved to Vancouver, B.C and founded her business Malene Grotrian Design Inc. in 2008, a contemporary and timeless line of women’s wear. Within the first year of her business Malene Grotrian was quickly recognized locally at Vancouver Fashion Week for her creative talent, receiving their first-ever standing ovation, which led to an invitation to show at New York fashion week with a solo runway show in 2009. Being named one of Vancouver’s top 10 designers, the company has since developed and expanded into an array of creative directions. Starting with a wholesale line of contemporary women's clothing, focussing mainly on professional and evening wear into having it’s own exclusive retail/studio boutique in Vancouver BC. Having a true passion for making woman feel beautiful and confident, Malene Grotrian’s designs are inspired from the female hourglass shape. Also known for her innovative and versatile designs, one design can often be styled in multiple looks and offer great value in each piece. Today Malene Grotrian continues to offer Made to Measure designs for custom clients with her in-home design services as well as offering her expertise and industry experience through her apparel consulting services.
