Initially, I worked on developing a bioinformatics solution to produce certified medical products for genetic diagnostics. Later on, I was heavily involved in the research team, creating first prototypes and ideas for future bioinformatics solutions. Currently, I am an engineering team lead, integrating AI solutions into the company's products. The primary language I work with is Python.

I got invited to attend an invite-only 8 week-long virtual development program called Get Ahead by Google EMEA for people who self identify as females, with potential and interest in developing their skill set for future employment opportunities at Google. The program includes video trainings, interview workshops, coding challenges and support from Google engineers.

WGACorrect is a tool that corrects chimeras due to whole genome amplification in third generation sequencing. The project required access to the High Performance Computer which taught me efficientterminal usage. To be able to write the pipeline I had to learn various bioinformatics data processing tools such as BWA, BLAST, SAMTOOLS, Biopython and data visualisation tool: Artemis. WGACorrect is a part of a bigger genomic assembly pipeline used for pathogens and microbiota.

Using data derived from high-throughput next generation sequencing experiments, I automated the genotype calling process for the number of CTG repeats in the DMPK gene, expansions which cause myotonic dystrophy type 1. Automation of the genotype calling process facilitated high throughout genotyping in a number of scenarios, including studies investigating the causes of variability of myotonic dystrophy and studies into the origin of new mutations. My internship took place in the Institute of Molecular, Cell and Systems Biology at University of Glasgow and the tool I created is published on the Galaxy Bioinformatics Platfrom Tool Shed and used by the Monckton Group.
