English Second Language Teacher

Current
Jet Programme

Okayama, Japan

Teaching at two schools in the mountains of Niimi Japan, I work with amazing Elementary and Kindergarten students to teach them the basics of English vocabulary, grammar and reading. Each day I come up with lesson plans that are specially designed for the needs and levels of each class. It is also my job to be a cultural ambassador for these kids and share with them differences between Japan's culture and those all around the world.

Marketing Director

Greater Seattle Area

As marketing director for Startup UW, I am constantly searching for more opportunities to continue to increase attendance rates at our events. Currently, I am sending out weekly newsletters from the club that add new and exciting startup related content from both our members and outside sources. Facebook is an amazing marketing tool as well. Creating the events on Facebook and sharing them to as many groups and pages as possible really gives Startup UW more attention and recognition as a club that is truly devoted to giving members the resources they need to start their own business. I am currently working with my committee members to find new marketing pools and strategies to really use our resources we have and increase Startup UW's reputation.

Jan 2015 - Apr 2015

Events Director

As Events Director for Startup UW, I had the great opportunity of bringing together many talented students and giving them workshops and other events that pertained to their interests. The main events I organized include the pre-Dubhacks workshops held before a major collegiate hackathon at the University of Washington. Organizing events is definitely a hobby of mine and continues to be a part of my every day life as I plan Startup UW's weekly meetings. The key to having good events is first, to make the events fun yet beneficial. Second, is to market them well and through as many social media sites as possible. I do this through our weekly newsletter and Facebook mostly yet am still trying out more platforms to really bring Startup UW's name to the top.

May 2014 - Jan 2015

Event Organizer

Organized a Startup Weekend at the University of Washington for students to have a more affordable opportunity of participating in an amazing entrepreneurship weekend event.

Startup Hall Associate/Student Liaison

Startup Hall

Startup Hall

As Startup Hall Associate, I ensure events run smoothly and all questions are answered professionally and clearly. I am also the Student Liaison for Startup Hall which gives me the duty of bringing as many students as possible in and connecting them with the local startups which are constantly searching for interns and student employees. I host weekly meetings for Startup UW in Startup Hall as well as other workshops and events. My goal is to show students how amazing and beneficial it is to have all these startups right on campus where they can ask questions and learn how to be successful for their own future companies.

Jan 2015 - Jun 2015

State Farm Intern

As an intern for State Farm, I gain much marketing experience. Being able to successfully sell auto quotes through the phone teaches you ways that hook the receiver and make them want to follow through. I was also trained how to use their operating systems and was able to access policies and answer basic questions customers had about their accounts. Everyday there were items that needed to get done and policies that needed to be followed up on. This forced you to set reminders and ensure you never forgot anyone and were very professional with the customers. In all I feel I gained first hand experience on how a Fortune 500 company can run efficiently and strong.
