About Ayush Malik

As an experienced Data Scientist, I have honed my skills in analyzing complex data sets and developing machine learning models that deliver valuable insights and drive business outcomes. At Arbor, I played a pivotal role in enhancing the automation of the company’s dashboard by creating a highly accurate product categorization ML model. I also spearheaded the development of a robust Named Entity Recognition micro-service to automatically extract critical material information from product descriptions, enabling the scalable analysis of over 3 million products. Additionally, I engineered multiple heuristic models using NLP and regex techniques, successfully identifying over 10 product traits in product descriptions, such as manufacturing country and color. This effort led to significant efficiency gains, saving over 30 minutes of manual data entry per product.Proficient in deploying machine learning models as standalone APIs, using Flask, Docker, Github Actions, and AWS Elastic Beanstalk to ensure a seamless deployment. Experience in integrating ML model APIs into existing data pipelines and developing pre-processing and post-processing algorithms using Python to enhance the efficiency of data pipelines.During my Masters, I worked on a funded research project aimed at the early identification of chronic homeless clients at an emergency homeless shelter in Calgary. Leveraging ML models and data science, I innovated a unique pre-processing approach that achieved an accuracy of 97%, significantly reducing the time to identification from 180 days to 30 days for most homeless shelter clients. Additionally, I developed a proof-of-concept solution for privacy-preserving data records linkage, utilizing industry-standard encryption techniques to enable anonymized data merging of emergency shelter, health, and police records of homeless shelter users in Calgary. With a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and industry-recognized certifications such as Azure Data Scientist Associate and Azure AI Fundamentals, I am well-equipped to apply my skills to solve complex business problems and deliver meaningful outcomes through data analysis and machine learning. I am passionate about utilizing my knowledge to help organizations make data-driven decisions and drive value from their data.
