Students learn how to maintain an AAV and associated equipment (weapons, communications suite, SL-3, and logbook) and how to operate an AAV on land, to include introductory troubleshooting and self-recovery. Students will also be able to operate an AAV in the water and know how to execute emergency procedures afloat. Additionally, students learn how to operate and employ the M2 Caliber .50 and MK-19, 40mm machine guns from the AAV Upgunned Weapons Station (UGWS). Graduates of this course will be able to perform duties within an AAV crew in both garrison and expeditionary environments. Prior to graduation, all students are required to have a swim qualification of Marine Corps Water Survival Intermediate. -
School Of Infantry Student (Mct)United States Marine Corps Jul 2021 - Aug 2021Camp Pendleton, CaliforniaMarine Combat Training (MCT) is a 29-day course at the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, California where entry-level Marines taught the common skills needed in combat and world wide deployment. Students learn the the basics of both day & night combat marksmanship, counter-improvised explosive device techniques, how to conduct the defense of a position, convoy operations, combat formations, fireteam assaults, patrolling, MOUT, reporting military intelligence, machine gun employment and gunnery, land navigation, basic use of military radios & communications. Training also includes combat conditioning by running an obstacle course, conducting marches, physical training, and MCMAP. Upon completion of MCT, the Marine is to have gained the knowledge and ability to operate in a combat environment as a basic rifleman and to perform primary duties under fire. -
