About Malik Ready

Malik Ready is a scholar, educator, and grassroots organizer. He was born in Tallahassee, Florida, by way of Altamonte Springs. Malik recently graduated from Tallahassee Community College with his Associate's Degree in Political Science. Currently, Malik is a scholar at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where he studies political science.Malik is a firm believer that his ambition didn’t grow out of nowhere. It was planted in him by a community that nurtured me. Malik has organized and held different positions over the last four years with organizations like the Florida Poor People’s Campaign, Dream Defenders, NAACP, Tallahassee Police Advisory Board, New Leaders Council, Tallahassee Community College Black Student Union, and Florida Democratic Party Youth Council. He has been featured in publications, including The New Republic, The Famuan, Talon Tallahassee Community College’s Student Newspaper, Bet News Network, Teen Vogue, WCTV, WTXl Abc 27, Tallahassee Democrat, Florida Phoenix, and Defender Network, for advocating for educational equality, police accountability, and the impact of student loan debt on Black and Brown people. “We deal here with the right of all of our children, whatever their race, to an equal start in life and an equal opportunity to reach their full potential as citizens. The Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival has picked up this unfinished work today. From Alaska to Arkansas, the Bronx to the border, people are coming together to confront the interlocking evils of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, militarism and the war economy, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism. We understand that as a nation, we are at a critical juncture — that we need a movement that will shift the moral narrative, impact policies, and elections at every level of government, and build lasting power for poor and impacted people.
