My role at Netcompany-Intrasoft was centered on enhancing the organization's capabilities in Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as strengthening the Data & AI Service Offering for our Clients (Enterprise, Public Sector and European Organizations / EO). I was responsible for executing the Data & AI strategy in line with the company's objectives and overseeing the implementation of data-driven projects and initiatives that foster innovation. I was the Head of Data for European Organizations (EO: European Institutions, Bodies and Agencies) at NTT DATA EMEAL (Public Sector & Health) and People & Technology Manager at NTT DATA Greece (member of the Greek Office Board). The main responsibilities were:(Head of Data for EO)- Define and build the Data Management, Data Ecosystems (Platforms & Spaces) and Advanced Analytics capabilities inside the EO with the main targets: a) enhance the technology capabilities on building Data Spaces (Common European Data Spaces) & Data Platforms (Data Lakes/Lakehouses, Analytics Platforms, Secure Processing Environments), b) support the Health Data Strategy of NTT DATA EMEAL (Public Sector & Health) and c) introduce to the Clients and act as technology evangelist of new business enablers from Data & AI (e.g., integrate LLMs with the internal domain knowledge and existing applications, showcase the advantages of Data Virtualization and Federated Learning)- Report to upper management about the status of the Data domain and handle communication with internal and external stakeholders- Drive company brand and marketing activities related to Data(People & Technology Manager for Greece)- Drive the Recruitment strategy to achieve company targets, and beyond, with skilled IT delivery professionals- Provide guidance to the Recruitment team and drive the definition of metrics (KPIs) to measure the results and monitor progress (100+ delivery professionals hired starting from February 2022)- Prepare and define the Greek Office (GO) Staffing strategy for technology profiles in accordance with the local market and the EO existing and anticipated needs- Drive the Staffing strategy (IT staff) of the GO by setting priorities and building capabilities (e.g., Data, Cloud, Architecture and Automation) for Digital Transformation projects

I was a member of the Executive Team in the Public Sector & Health / European Organizations (PS&H / EO, EO: European Institutions, Bodies and Agencies) at NTT DATA EMEAL and the team establishing the Greek Office (role: Staffing Manager). I was also working on building the BI, Analytics and Innovation capabilities for Greece and strengthening the Roadmaps of our Clients from the Health industry (e.g., EMA, WHO) towards Enterprise-level Agile (e.g., SAFe, DAD-PMI) and the Cloud.In addition, I was Product/Programme Manager of the Veterinary Medicines Product Platform - Master Data Management - and the Antimicrobial Sales and Use data Reporting application at EMA with the below main responsibilities:- Directing and managing the work by delegating and following up, where appropriate, the execution of the services providing the relevant teams and members (50+) with all necessary information and tools required- P&L responsibility of the projects under my supervision (€3M/year)- Development of programme management standards and methodologies to achieve programme goals- Early detection of risks related to non-optimal coordination between projects/services and taking overall responsibility for all the risks and resolving any issues ensuring the programme successful outcome- Assigning resources to streams in accordance with their skillsets and previous experience- Providing support to project managers and delivery managers on resource management and project execution

I was the Head of Business Intelligence & Data Management (Service Line Manager @NRB) for TRASYS INTERNATIONAL Greece, part of NRB group, and my main responsibilities were a) define, monitor and drive the company’s data strategy (e.g., build the big data processing and advanced analytics - ML/AI - capabilities, extend the data integration and analytics capabilities to the Cloud/Azure & AWS) and actively advise the customers (European Institutions / Agencies), b) support and contribute to Business Development and PreSales to expand the Data activities of the company (ECHA, EMA, EFSA, DG-SANTE, DG-ENV) c) develop and free up the potential of the employees (40+), put them in positions of responsibility, drive their commitment through evaluation, feedback, training, recognition and communication, d) hiring and resource allocation of profiles working with data-driven applications and e) consult and support projects related to Data Management and Business Intelligence.I started (2019) acting as an interim Programme Manager of the Framework Contract for the provision of data management IT services to ECHA (duration: 2017-2021, data resources: ~40, €3.5M/year revenue) and became the Data Programme Manager of the Framework Contract for IT Services covering the ECHA's Bespoke Applications Sourcing Tiers (duration: 2021-2029, data resources: ~60, €5M/year revenue).Furthermore, I was covering the role of the Data Analytics Lead responsible for the data applications development activities using formal processes of software engineering (SDLC), the custom data analytics applications development (e.g. data visualization, data mining, data stewardship), big data and the advanced data capabilities (symbolic AI and Data Science / e.g., multi-class classification, NLP, chatbots, knowledge graphs, record linkage). I was managing the technical delivery of the aforementioned activities for EMA. Finally, I was also acting as a Data Management Expert for the European Commission.

I managed projects on Data Management and Advanced Analytics (Statistics/ML). I was leading the development of a product portfolio for ECHA on chemoinformatics using advanced frameworks (Spark, HDFS, Hive, YARN, Ambari, Atlas, Neo4j, etc) and specialized libraries (GraphQL, ChemAxon, RDKit, Cytoscape, etc) for data processing and visualization, Elasticsearch for indexing/data mining and various fullstack technologies. The used programming languages were Python, Java, Javascript, Scala and others. The scope was the integration of various data sources to enhance information retrieval capabilities, per source or combined (semantic integration), and support toxicity risk assessment and management (predictive analytics) of chemical substances with advanced graph visualisation and modeling. I was responsible for the Big Data Architecture and its capacity to adopt ML/AI techniques. The portfolio included a Big Data Platform, a highly responsive search engine and web portals.My role included initiating, planning, allocating resources, designing, implementing, monitoring and controlling the projects. I was monitoring and triggering actions to minimize project risks. I managed the relationship with the client and all stakeholders. I assisted in the definition of the project scope and objectives while ensuring technical feasibility. I was the technical lead and managed contracts up to €1.3M/year including multiple cross-functional teams (~15 members) consisting of various technical and non-technical profiles.

I was a member of the Analytics Product Team, following Agile Extreme Programming, and working on Streaming Analytics for Reporting and Anomaly Detection with Exploratory Analysis. The core language of the implementation was Python and Frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka and various Analytical Databases / MPPs were investigated and tested.Multiple streams from a dispersed set of data collection points (probes capturing network traffic / packets), inside the operator’s network, were combined. The total size of the collected data was up to 4TB per day. The calculated KPIs were expanding to a large span of time intervals, as low as 1 minute and as high as 1 month. The roadmap was to move the Product towards a new era of fast KPI calculation (aggregation queries of high volume data) and visualization to enable real-time drill-down and highly responsive Exploratory Data Analysis for Network Monitoring. Furthermore, the next generation of the Product was investigated: automatic selection of critical KPIs to detect anomaly with Machine Learning and visualize the out-of-the-ordinary behaviour.I was responsible for the Big Data Architecture and the design/implementation of Automated Anomaly Detection with ML/AI. The first fully operational Release of the Product was deployed successfully at one of the leading Network Operators in Northwestern Europe (KPN). After the upgrade to the new system, the company increased the license fee by €800K/year.

I was a member of the Innovation team (R&D) of IRI's "Solutions and Innovation" working on the company's transition towards Open Source and Elastic Computing.I participated in a geographically dispersed Agile team (Chicago, Athens, Bangalore) working on the migration of IRI's US "Price & Promo Analytics" Solution which was generating more than $25M Annual Revenues from big US manufacturers/retailers such as Walmart, Coca-Cola, P&G. The SAS implementation running on HPC was migrated to Hadoop distributed storage and Spark cluster computing. Python was the core language of the implementation, but integration with other languages (R, Julia) was performed to leverage special functionality. The legacy version was implemented in SAS. The main objectives of the project were the improvement of the existing parallelization schema, the enhancement of data manipulation with the use of distributed processing and the migration of the statistical modeling algorithms (Regression, Mixed Models, Clustering, etc.). Furthermore, my stronger contribution was in the Performance Optimization of the Solution in order to support high Scalability and Elasticity on Azure.The system was designed to process 5 years of data for more than 300 categories containing 1 million products across total US (30 billions product sales). The largest dataset (category) reached dimensions as large as 300M rows by 30K columns (70TB). The system is operational from 2017 and, during the peak period, 40 clusters (200-400 cores and 1-2TB memory each) are processing data in parallel on Microsoft Azure.In addition, I had responsibilities in ACE (IRI's local business unit) beyond my participation in the development. I contributed to the team members hiring, development and training. I continuously mentored team members to improve their skills and performance. I was offering technical consulting to the leadership and other teams concerning the core technologies and frameworks adopted.

I worked as a Business Development consultant and participated in the development of business plans concerning various tech startups and SMEs, especially in the area of Analytics. My stronger contribution was in the writing of the Feasibility study, Testing core functionality, and the definition of the Go-To-Market strategy through digital channels.•Web/Marketing AnalyticsEstimation of Marketing ROI for different Digital Marketing Channels (SEO, Adwords, Social Media, Affiliate Networks) and proposition of the optimized Marketing Mix by taking into account the limitations of the available cash flow. Implement A/B tests to achieve higher conversion rates. Generate predictive models (customer acquisition) and produce Lift/Gain charts. Model Website traffic and evaluate impact of exogenous events.•Customer/Marketing Analytics:Customer Segmentation and Sales Forecast from customer sales data, mainly for wholesalers. Concerning clustering, straight forward (e.g., RFM model) to more automated techniques (centroid-based and distribution-based) were used depending on the volume of data and the business requirements. Time Series Analysis techniques were implemented using state-space models by decomposing the components of the data at the appropriate aggregated levels, depending on the business needs, to evaluate sales growth and estimate future demand.•Credit Risk Analytics Estimation of the transferred Risk of Default to a company from its customers. The technique was using customers' fundamental characteristics and credit scores in combination with the credit level granted to each customer to determine the aggregated transferred risk.The various analyses were mainly performed with R, used for modeling and visualisation. Also automated web scraping tools were implemented in Python.

I was Managing Partner during the company setup phase and participated in the creation of both the physical and the electronic store of the company. I managed the initial Design and Development of the Website and its final migration to an advanced eCommerce CMS, using web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Furthermore, I managed licensing and construction of the company’s flagship store in Kolonaki.I was responsible for the e-Shop coordination and the Digital Marketing Campaign (SEO, Adwords, Facebook, YouTube). Various CMS platforms (Joomla, Drupal, CS-cart) were tested and specific manipulation of HTML and CSS was finally needed to optimize the visibility of the site. In addition, I investigated and tested different techniques to take advantage of multiple low cost long tail keywords. The traffic from each keyword was limited but, after applying a strategy to increase the view of specific product pages by targeting multiple closely related keywords, the site traffic reached a momentum. Finally, in order to manage the large number of keywords, Web Scraping techniques were implemented to automate the Competitors Intelligence collection with scripts aggregating product listing, following updates of the product descriptions and early detecting new product introductions from the competitors.

AnP Engineering Company was founded and managed by two electrical engineers, with experience in system design and development, and evolved in an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contractor of energy projects with many installations in its assets. Its main activities were photovoltaic systems development, renewable energy sources, energy-efficient designing/building and green consulting. The company also provided licensing services for newly established investments (photovoltaics, wind turbines, manufacturing). I was one of the founders and managed activities from design/engineering to construction.I was responsible for the company's Website and Digital Brand/Marketing, and the execution of the Internet Marketing Plan (SEO and PPC campaigns). I deployed multiple versions of the company's Website in order to cover all the needed functionality while remaining user friendly and highly recognisable for the search engine. Furthermore, I created specialised content to elevate the ranking of the site and increase its reputation based on references from other quality sites.My partner continues the activity of the company.

At the Software Applications Department of Intracom Defense R&D, I managed the design and development of a real-time processing distributed sensor network (Multistatic VHF/UHF Radar System), based on patented research results from my doctoral thesis. I was responsible for the development of the algorithms used on the sensors/receivers (Time Series Analysis and Forecasting - State-Space Models, FFT spectrum analysis, ROC Optimization), the communication link (real-time data collection from multiple receivers) and the Data Fusion center (Extended Kalman Filtering, Interacting Multiple Models: Markov-switching Modeling, Multilateration, Multiple Target Tracking: Adaptive k-Nearest Neighbors algorithm, Sensor Fusion). The single sensor and the Data Fusion center software was implemented with Matlab and C/C++. The team successfully performed wide area field tests with flying aircrafts.

During this period, I was a consultant research engineer in the Institute of Communications and Computer Systems (ICCS) and participated in various joint projects of the Institute with the Microwave and Fiber Optics Laboratory (MFOL) of NTUA and the Institute of Accelerating Systems & Applications (IASA), and in European joint projects of ICCS with big European companies active in R&D (e.g., Volvo, Airbus, VW). I also worked on technical essays, surveys and expert reports in telecommunications and computer systems projects (illustrative cases: air targets scattering measurements, radiation pattern estimation, wind turbines interference in telecommunication systems, system design of infringement recording in highways) for the public and private sector, on behalf of the above mentioned research facilities. All these research activities resulted in publications on international magazines and conferences from mathematical analysis to applied engineering. In various publications, I collaborated with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Technical University of Berlin. I used scientific programming languages such as Matlab, Interactive Data Language (IDL), Mathematica, and various Domain Specific Languages for simulation.

I worked as a consultant engineer in telecommunication and information systems for the Defense Products Marketing Department of Intracom during the writing of a proposal for the General Directorate for Defense Armaments and Investments of the Hellenic Republic Ministry of National Defense. I participated in the definition of the client operational needs and the feasibility study to define the technical specifications of the proposed system and its subsystems (digital processing units, RF receivers, communication link). I was solely responsible for the writing of the scientific foundation and the operating principle of the system.
