I love to improve processes and architect technical solutions, problem-solve, and explore new technologies. At NCSA, I wore many different hats, but one of my biggest accomplishments was building and managing three production OpenStack clusters — one of which is still in use today with more than 4000 vCPUs and 25TB RAM.In my free time, I work on my other passion — plants — where I get my nerd on blending horticulture and technology. For example, I programmed the backend for the University of Illinois Arboretum apps and helped with some coding on the Android version. I also built and coded an irrigation controller using a Raspberry Pi, and I manage a 20+ node cloud cluster as my personal playground for technology and "plant-related" things. My garden is filled with thousands of rare outdoor plants, and is even mapped out on a grid that uses weatherproof NFC tags to identify everything.Innovation inspires me.
