Provided input into the planning for and conducting the implementation of public nutrition education. Education classes were designed to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among low-income families and individuals encompassing all age groups. Coordinated and managed education events and classes in local communities on a variety of nutrition topics like: healthy eating on a budget, smart shopping for vegetables and fruit, healthy meal planning, basic cooking and food safety skills, weight control and physical activity.

Coordinated the development and implementation of a communication service that met the unique demands of the Oneida County WIC clinic and the county's diverse population. This project including researching the WIC client buy-in to a such a communication tool, how it would improve client retention, and the overall effectiveness of this tool. I established working partnerships between the communication service and the current WIC staff.

Organized, managed development, and implemented interactive translated WIC app to improve quality of services to the diverse refugee population of Oneida county. Assessed the needs of both the Oneida County WIC clinic and the refugee population. Formed partnership with a language software company to develop a program that has WIC appointment process and procedures translated, including an audio version in seven languages. This project reduced wait time, improved clinic flow, and overall ease of appointment for staff and clients.

I also addressed the psychological needs of patients, identifies cultural differences in planning for patient care through nutrition.

Completed an internship at the Oneonta YMCA as a nutrition educator for the Youth Fitness program. This internship was the final step in completing my minor. I created a nutrition education program that complimented the Youth Fitness program, allowing the children to maximize their potential. This program was for Y members aged 11-13, and ran for 13 weeks. While I was at the YMCA I volunteered to provide nutrition education services to a food intolerance and allergy support group. This support group was brought awareness to many residents of the community what a gluten intolerance, and other food allergies are. Overall the support group meetings allowed community members to try new food, share ideas, experiences and to have a support to nutritional guidance. I also volunteered for Free Family Fun Fitness Nights at the Oneonta YMCA. This program took place once a month on a Friday evening. This program offered different programs that members and nonmembers can try such as, family zumba, swimming and other activities. Each night had a theme that coincided with a concern within the community. (Example Family fitness was one month and another was going green and simple gardening). I learned how to work with a variety of people from different education levels, and serve the community.

Learned the inter-workings of the academic department. I completed basic office duties such as; filing, faxing, mailing, copying and organizing records, and when needed I helped students and faculty with simple tasks. Twice a year I completed inventory and the student evaluation packets. I also trained other work study students for the department.
