When I first entered emergency services in 2010, I didn’t know I would be learning lessons that are critical in the business world. ✔️ Being cool under pressure. ✔️ Learning and following procedures. ✔️ Trusting process in tough situations. ✔️ Thinking on your feet and actively solving problems. ✔️ Working with your team for positive outcomes. To be honest, even after I had left emergency services for the business world, I still didn’t immediately recognize the skills I had developed over those years. From there I had a solid structure and sense of self as I moved forward on a new path. Building off that structure, I grew to love building process, organizing chaos, solving problems, and leading from behind. From there, the concept of Key Grip Virtual came to mind. Virtual operational professionals providing support to businesses and executives. Teams of behind-the-scenes leaders working to elevate businesses. Providing businesses access to support when they need it.In the book Creativity Inc., Ed Catmull writes “excellence, quality, and good should be earned words, attributed by others to us, not proclaimed by us about ourselves”. He is so right. At Key Grip, we believe those are characteristics you don’t just state but earn. When I’m not working hard to earn those characteristics, I live a pretty ordinary life. Reading a lot of books. Lifting weights and running. Playing the harp. Cross-country dirtbiking. Refinishing furniture. Okay… maybe not the most ordinary – but aren’t the best people a little quirky?
