Led a new initiative to identify compelling, landscape-scale conservation opportunities on the Colorado Plateau and promote them to private and public funders.

Manage the operations of non-profit organization in transitional period to bring on a new full-time Executive Director. Oversee search process for hiring Executive Director, manage and coordinate ongoing projects and contract work, provide communications to the board, manage outreach and social media.

For my second summer internship I synthesized the effects of global climate change on glaciers of the greater Himalayan region and the potential impacts to water supply and food security. Searched scientific literature and briefed scientists on findings.

Transformed a fledgling non-profit into an organization capable of fulfilling its mission to connect mainstream society with important environmental and cultural issues in Florida. Led Board of Directors in strategic planning to define organizational goals, then created programs and secured funding to meet these goals.

Assessed municipal response to the 2007-2008 drought and the state of instream flow policies in North Carolina. Interviewed municipal leaders, tracked legislation, and participated in Southeastern Instream Flow Network workshop.

Provided company executives research findings on potential new green business endeavors including wind power development in Texas, carbon offsets in Florida, and converting a portion of the traditional cow-calf herd management to niche market for grass-fed beef.

Elected to seven member decision-making body for small municipality in Southwest Colorado.

Managed Telluride field office and led the Conservancy’s conservation efforts on five major fronts: eradicating non-native phreatophytes from the San Miguel River watershed, re-operating McPhee Dam to benefit warm-water native fish and riparian communities, protecting 22,000 acres of habitat for globally rare Gunnison Sage-grouse, adding land trust capacity in Ouray County by forming the Northern San Juans Initiative, and establishing ecological measures of success with community buy-in for the San Miguel watershed.
