• Completing basic and complex Canadian Immigration applications, collecting supporting documentation and writing submissions for Permanent Resident applications such as: Family Sponsorship, Refugee claims, Economic (Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, Canadian Experience Class), and Humanitarian and Compassionate (H&C) considerations. Temporary Resident applications such as: Visitors, work, and student permits and extensions. Other applications: Criminal rehabilitation, Citizenship, Temporary Resident Applications, LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) Citizenship, Permanent Resident card renewal applications.• Completing disclosure, and assisting at appearances before the Immigration Refugee Board- Immigration Division (ID), Immigration Appeal Division (IAD), Refugee Protection Division (RPD) Refugee Appeal Division (RAD) Examples of appearance including but not limited to: Detention Reviews, Admissibility hearings. Sponsorship, admissibility, appeals, reconsideration of stays, Refugee hearings and appeals.• Completing consultations with Clients, including evaluating client’s needs to identify application category and if the client meets category qualifications.• Managing schedules, application intake and send off, following up on over-due files and managing disclosure due dates of files within a high volume atmosphere.• Multi-tasking to efficiently complete files while managing a high volume office.• Notifying clients of upcoming extensions and options for other qualified applications (work permits and student permits etc.)• Communicating with government agencies such as CIC, ESDC, and CBSA on behalf of clients, resolving issues and advocating on the client’s behalf.• Acting as a mentor and field placement advisor for law, law clerk, paralegal, and immigration consultant students while fulfilling their field placement requirements. Continuing mentorship throughout their career, and supporting as a mentor/teacher.
