- Architecting, designing and implementation of an eXecutable Translatable UML tool-suite consisting of a text-based modelling language and corresponding meta-models;- Successfully designed, implemented and tested a model-compiler (code generator) for the J2EE platform, capable of automatically generating all code required for the back-end of a complex J2EE application from an xtUML model;- Successfully designed, implemented and tested another model-compiler for the generation of J2SE applications from xtUML models.

Tutor for System Analysis and Modelling.

- Redevelopment of the SoDIS prototype to commercial standards (currently ongoing); SoDIS (Software Development Impact Statement) is a risk analysis and project management software tool;- Successful analysis, design and re-implementation of SoDIS using Shlaer/Mellor eXecutable Translatable UML (xtUML) as well as traditional Java/Swing and SQL;- Configuration management, requirements analysis and management, testing, code reviews, development and application of a coding standard, and project planning;- Providing quality assurance for the eVACS project (electronic Voting and Counting System).

- Analysis and design of sub-systems using Shlaer/Mellor eXecutable Translatable UML (xtUML) for a next-generation traffic signal controller (TRAFF2 Project);- Requirements analysis and analysis of existing specifications with respect to safety and architectural considerations;- Planning the software development process in various areas such as requirements management and software configuration management in accordance with SW/SE-CMMI capability level 2 as well as IEC AS/NZS 61508;- Creation of a quality management system (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2000 and training of the project team which resulted in adoption of the created QMS.

Successful analysis, re-design and re-implementation of a sub-system of the electronic voting and counting system (eVACS®) using Shlaer/Mellor Executable Translatable UML, the BridgePoint Development Suite, C++, and Java in an estimated 40% of the original development time.

- Leading a team of software developers to produce safety critical software for medical applications in compliance with IEC 60601–1–4.- Performed system risk-analysis for various medical systems in accordance with the European Medical Device Directive (MDD) and prepared a number of documents for the successful certification process.- Taking responsibility for the software configuration repository and successful design and implementation of software systems and modules in C and C++ using various software libraries and CASE tools:- A software system for graphical simulation and monitoring of robot- and navigation-assisted surgical robotics tasks. The system was subsequently used by the German Cancer Research Centre;- Safety relevant software libraries for a robot controller for surgical applications. The robot controller has been used in the first approved robot-system for maxillofacial surgery;- A software component for generation and manipulation of graphical patient models that is used now in the commercially successful RoboDent® dental surgery system.

- Successful management of €1,000,000 research project with a strong focus on requirements from internal and external stakeholders in the research sector and private sector;- Creation of project reports and other deliverables with administrative and scientific content;- Definition, coordination and prioritisation of project work for all project participants across eight organisations in five countries.
