About Martin Alther-Jones
I'm an IT specialist who has worked extensively in both programming and data analysis for more than ten years. When I worked at Wayne State University's Oncology Department, I wrote a number of programs that helped to improve the accuracy and speed of cancer patient analyses. I have also performed numerous record queries and analyses, helping researchers and IT staff to identify both eligible patient criteria for research projects and errors in the database. I have also assisted coworkers with various computer problems (both hardware and software related), ranging from corrupt software installations to damaged monitors. Currently, I am working with McLaren Healthcare, writing and updating software to assist with patient record log management. I am skilled in languages including C#, Java and C++ as well as database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL. Lately, I've also been working extensively with ASP.Net, using the MVC framework of web development. Of course, good programming is not just about writing code, so I have cultivated strong interpersonal communication skills, helping me to understand the full picture of any tasks I am assigned and to create a positive, supportive environment for coworkers. I continue to actively strive to expand my knowledge in both IT and my specific field of work, making sure that I understand not only my company's programming style but also their core mission and whatever service we are providing customers/clients. Besides my work, my interests include reading books (I am a big "Lord Of The Rings" fan!), playing the trumpet, playing tennis, and regular volunteering.
