I assist consultant adult neuropsychologists in administering various tests of cognitive domains to assess the cognitive abilities of patients with various brain injuries, neurodevelopmental issues, cognitive deficits, and pre-surgery assessment needs. I sit in on patient interviews and make observational notes to assist in formulating the neuropsychology report that is sent to patients and any medical staff that referred them to us. The scoring of the assessments administered and the general admin surrounding data collection, uploading, and documentation is part of my duties as well.

I give them insight into what life as a university student in Manchester and as part of a joint honours degree is like and detail my personal personal experiences of the benefits, advantages, and possible confounds of being at the university. I have a casual role and take on short notice requests from prospective students as well as organised events.

I offer tutoring services for learners in Grade 1 to Grade 12. For primary school and intermediate phase learners, I offer assistance with homework, projects, and difficulties in all subjects. For high school learners, I offer assistance in Mathematics, Life Sciences/Biology, Physical Sciences (Physics & Chemistry), and English, but am able to offer assistance in Dramatic Arts as well. I was taught according to the National Senior Certificate Curriculum of South Africa and wrote exams with the Independent Examinations Board (IEB). As a result, I am able to assist up until GSCE level in the UK curriculum.

I am a cleared tutor for English, Mathematics, Physical Science, and Life Sciences in the IEB curriculum and am able to help learners up until the Grade 12 level. However, I am also able and willing to assist learners who are at an equivalent level in different curriculums.

I was a fundraising and admin project leader for the University of Manchester’s Student Action Volunteering Project Once a Month. I assisted with packing sessions where sanitary and hygiene items are put into a gift bag to be given to charities that are supporting individuals facing period poverty or an overall inability to afford basic hygiene necessities. I also organised events that raise the money needed to buy the items for the packages delivered to charities such as a Wellness Crafternoon event where tickets were sold snacks and drinks were provided for people to paint and colour to their heart’s content to destress before the exam season begun. I also helped organise a Raffle that had prizes like a huge teddy bear, a study hamper, and tickets to any gig being hosted at the University of Manchester’s Academies. I also assisted in organising, preparing, and MCing a pub quiz evening where the proceeds went towards making more packs for the charities we support to be covered during the summer.The team grew since I joined so I undertook a leadership role in guiding and training the new project leaders to be able to assist the project and come into their roles. This expansion led to me developing social media design and advertising skills in order to better advertise fundraisers, events, and packing sessions. It has also grown and developed my communication and leadership skills as I have delegated tasks, co-chaired meetings to discuss plans and upcoming activities or admin that needs to be done, and spoken to university staff and third-parties on behalf of the team. I also co-ran the shadowing initiative that allowed us to choose the new project leaders that would take over from us and gave them experience and training in how to run Once a Month.We won Volunteer Project of the Year at the Student Union Volunteering Awards in the 2022/23 academic year and got third place in the University Volunteer Awards of the same year.

I completed various tasks to facilitate the completion of an advertisement testing study for a client. These included:- Welcoming and informing participants of how the study will be conducted, the various pieces of technology in use, and the expectations had of them- Attaching and calibrating electroencephalography and galvanic skin response electrodes as well as eye tracking technology- Supervising participants as they completed the study and monitoring the equipment for errors or inconsistencies- Analysing the advertisements used to segment them into scenes, identify their strongest moments of brand association, and identify and mark out areas of interest (products and logos) for eye gaze data- Interpreting the data collected from the study and forming insights to assist in generating the feedback report for clientI learned about how experimental design is employed in setting up these studies and the software that is used to integrate all the information collected by the neuroscience technologies. I learned how to use the software and each of the available technologies, as well as the science and methodology behind them. I then wrote articles about how these technologies work so that the average participant may gain an understanding of what is being used on them. Additionally, I developed an understanding of how the effectiveness of marketing is recognised both through neuroscientific methods and standard marketing techniques. This curated a deeper understanding of the world of advertising and product development from a markter's/seller's perspective.I also conducted research and a literature review into the available electrophysiological markers and methods of observing specific psychological phenomena so that metrics and study designs may be derived for future use. This research allowed me to assist in brainstorming the study design for a particular client's request and was compiled into a comprehensive guide book and presented to a member of the team.

I canvassed for a position as a student representative for my year of study for my degree and spent the academic year acting as bridge between students and university staff and lecturers. This was done by sending out surveys and forms to collect information about student experiences, likes, dislikes, and suggested improvements and speaking with my cohort to gauge what their problems and challenges were. If me or my fellow representative were not able to signpost them to the correct support or service, or help them with their query or problem, then the issue or suggestion was raised in Student Staff Liasion Committee meetings that were held at three points in the year. The results and notes from these meeting were shared with the cohort via email and students were welcome to email or message us with queries. Part of my duties included monitoring the university's UNITU website for any queries or issues raised there and my fellow representatives and I successfully helped raise an issue about the balance of online and in-person content students were experience and ways to optimise that. Moreover, I was able to bring to the attention of the staff the modules with the most useful online platforms so as to improve first years' experience of Blackboard.
