Interacting with users and vendors, troubleshooting issues that arise. Documenting the infrastructure..My main responsibility is managing the network: configuring Netgear switches; configuring Juniper network devices; administering Linux file & application servers (CentOS 7); managing a FiberChannel StorNext SAN, along with Samba and NFS. Maintaining Docker containers and KVM virtual machines.A major project has been investigating and documenting the entire infrastructure as there was little documentation available on my arrival and no handover. Have created a knowledge base using GLPI IT management software and FusionInventory. Deployed GLPI & supporting services via Docker.Thera is composed of multiple services written in a mix of Node.js/Express and Python/CherryPy backed by MongoDB & RabbitMQ, deployed as a collection of Docker containers & KVM virtual machines. Wrote a DevOps manual in Markdown for Thera from scratch after examining Git repos & running services. Installed, configured and troubleshooted Unity game engine, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive VR headsets, HP Z1 and MSI VR One VR backpack PCs.Set up a Nuke renderfarm from scratch using the Frame Server and Deadline.

Interacting with clients, users & vendors, troubleshooting issues in a live environment. Investigating new systems for supporting the company pipeline.My main responsibility is administering Linux file & application servers (Debian stable). User logins are authenticated against a Windows Server 2012 based Active Directory using System Security Services Daemon (SSSD) & LDAP. Internal DNS is provided by DNS Manager. These services occasionally require me to do Windows administration.My major project has been migrating the company from Office 365 to G Suite (formerly Google Apps). Raising Your Game is a startup focused on boosting wellbeing using gamification. As a founder I ran the firm. Our focus was on helping professionals stay emotionally fit in the face of stress and helping them to get emotionally fit in the wake of burnout, anxiety and depression. The aim is to help them maintain and improve their performance at work, and ultimately to help them maintain and improve their enjoyment of life.As CTO, I did Linux system administration, maintained the code for our Node.js web app, committing to Git, worked with an external software developer, administered the MongoDB database for the app doing the occasional CRUD operation when needed. I managed DNS for the domain & email, along with installing and maintaining WordPress.

An award-winning social enterprise working with long term unemployed people. I did all the IT for London Creative Labs including Google Apps administration, desktop support & managing various online services.I did a couple of small Data Science type projects using Python to process data in CSV format. I wrote a Python web scraper & used FusionTables with Google Maps to visualise the data for one of the projects.I handled strategy, business development, finance & logistics, raising 6 figures in funding from JP Morgan Chase to fund our pilot programme.

A bootstrapped startup, I worked with an extremely bright lead architect/founder on architecting an innovative cloud computing platform with its own currency pre-blockchain. We were building our prototype on the Google App Engine PaaS using Python. I didn’t do much hands-on coding in that role, but I did a fair bit of software building from Git repos as well as administer a dedicated Linux server that we used to host some services and websites. Also did Bash shell scripting as needed.

I setup and hosted the website on a VPS running Debian Linux and Apache. I handled the domains, DNS and administered email.A think-do tank focused on creating sustainable communities. We set up The Hive a community-oriented co-working space in the heart of Brixton modelled in part on what is now called the Impact Hub Islington. We incubated a number of ventures, most notably the Brixton Pound and Spacemakers who created the Brixton Village Market phenomenon. I was responsible for partnerships and fundraising.

During a highly visible public sprint, I was effectively the spokesperson for the Espians and their 24Weeks project. This pushed me from being a very introverted techie to being someone much more outgoing with more effective communication skills, especially in the realm of telling the story about what we were doing.I wrote some Python, but mostly Javascript to work with an early version of Google Maps.

A Victoria-based hosting provider with a data centre near Old Street. I looked after the hardware, software and networking side of the hosting they provided to their clients. Worked with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Centos Linux and Windows-based servers, running on Dell PowerEdge hardware, providing web, email and database services. Did bare metal Linux installs using Kickstart.I was employed specifically for my Linux expertise, did a lot of work with Bind for DNS and spam-proofing email servers. I migrated the busiest and most heavily spammed email server from Sendmail to Postfix. Did monitoring of sites, services and servers with Nagios, writing my own health checks. This is when I started to do serious Bash shell scripting.
