The preliminary preparatory work like selection of core team, preparation of business plan, evaluation & selection of aircraft type, compiling of operational manuals, selection of Reservation system, Departure Control System, Revenue Accounting, Flight Planning modules, and documentation for obtaining AOC from Afghan CAA, were done out of the company’s Regional office at UAE. Head office was established in Kabul, and all support staff was recruited locally with a view to train and empower the Afghans who could finally takeover all departments including Management of the Airlines. After putting in place all systems, procedures and putting together a professional team by recruiting Cockpit Crew from Canada, USA and Europe, Maintenance Engineers from Georgia and Cabin Crew from local market; Commercial operations were commenced in April, 2014 i.e., within nine months of starting the project. Commercial strategies and dynamic pricing were developed and implemented in addition to the appointment of General Sales Agents at Mazar-e-Sharif, Kandahar, Herat, Hilmand and Tarin Kot, thereby, minimizing the Sales and Marketing cost. The operation was successfully managed with a lean and smart organization structure to achieve optimum revenue with lower cost operation and was subsequently handed over to the local management in July, 2014.
