WHO IS MARK RIDDELL, aka The Cycling Geek 🚴🏼 (check out @thecyclinggeek on Insta if you're into cycling)I co-founded m3 Networks the day after being made redundant. It was 2009, my daughter was 6 months old, and we were sat round my colleagues kitchen table wondering what to call ourselves. Several hours, a few beers, and lots of translating technical terms into Latin to see if they sounded cool, we settled on m3 Networks. Perhaps a bit boring, but it had our three names in it (Mark, Mark + Mary), and it kinda described what we do (design, build and support IT networks).And that's the TL;DR of how m3 Networks got started.I've alway enjoyed fixing stuff and solving problems. I love building stuff (even IKEA furniture 😂). I guess that's why I was suited to IT. I'm very creative too. I've been told many times that I'm good at translating techy stuff into a language that people understand, which is a really good skill to have.I enjoy meeting people and learning about their businesses, how they function, and how technology plays it's part in making things run efficiently. The first few months of working with a new customer is the most exciting time as we get the opportunity to make the biggest improvements in their business.I see IT as a partnership with customers. Think about it - what other supplier/partner in your business has as much control and responsibility for the daily running, resiliency and security of your business than your IT company? Yet many companies choose an IT company either based on price or just who they like the best.My mission is to help businesses to get better at choosing the right IT partner for their business. Sometimes that is m3, and sometimes we discover we're not a fit. And that's ok by me.PERSONAL NOTE:Three things I'm passionate about: cycling, football, technology. I didn't do a lot of travelling growing up as my parents couldn't afford it, so I'm making up for that by going on regular holidays with my own family (I have a teenage daughter and an 11 year old son). Outside of work, I cycle as much as I can, and I'm a committee member in my local club Perth United Cycling Club.
