Governance of IT Board establishes a fundamental basis for managing IT to deliver value to the organization. IT Board governance provides the structure to achieve the alignment of the IT strategy with the business strategy, incorporate IT into the enterprise risk management (ERM) program, monitor the performance of IT and ensure delivery of value, and ensure adequate internal controls and regulatory compliance. Within HDB IT Board Governance is responsible for working as a strategic partner with HDB Managing Director, COO and different Line Of Business Head’s (LOB’s), to meet the bank strategy.

Governance (focuses on what to be achieved) ensures that enterprise objectives are achieved by evaluating stakeholder needs, conditions and options; setting direction through prioritisation and decision making; and monitoring performance, compliance and progress against agreed-on direction and objectives (EDM). The EDM (Evaluate, Direct and Monitor) cycle is applicable to all 6 objectives below: Achieve business /IT alignmentEffective governance aligns IT to the organization and establishes controls to measure meeting this objective. That includes making sure of benefits delivery for new, in-progress and running projects.Ensure Governance Framework Setting and Maintenancee.g. PMI framework for project management, ITIL for ITRisk optimizationEnsures risks are optimized in the IT risk, information security and IT audit domains. Assuring adequate internal controls are applied and risks are managed.Achieve proper Compliance and RegulatoryCompliance assessments against Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Operational Level Agreements (OLAs), standards, and regulatory requirements should be implemented on an ongoing basis to ensure stability, conformance, and performance monitoring.Resource optimizationEnsure resources (cost & time) are optimized for new, ongoing and running projects.Ensure Stakeholder TransparencyTransparent and regular status reports are required back to stakeholders. As well as the ability to call for irregular meetings for pressing high impact matters.
