The internship included a door-to-door survey of the sample of 10 villages across the district of Surendranagar. The main responsibilities of a research-intern in the 15-day internship were to take a survey of families from different villages. The survey questions were majorly objective and their topics varied from health, sanitation, employment, education, policy benefits, women roles, presence of SHGs, sewage, environmental awareness, waste management and village administration. The internship experience proved to be very effective as it introduced me to a different kind of life and a culture of the roots of the country. The internship was a learning experience, it taught me of rural livelihood and the gap between urban and rural spectrums of the country. Moreover, a feeling of privilege was experienced which led to pave crucial career paths for me.

I worked as an intern in the local daily, Ahmedabad Mirror. The experience at the internship was a holistic one in which I was introduced to the working of a newsroom. I worked in the city section and published two story articles related to civic affairs under my by line. The internship with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is one in which I was introduced to the public administration of a city. It is an internship provided by the university to make students aware of the public administration and to make them familiar with the working and history of Ahmedabad. My role was to conduct swachhta survekshan, it included examining different public facilities like municipal schools, hospitals, local railway stations, community toilets, local government colonies and local markets. Other roles included a study of homeless shelters and management at the annual international kite festival and flower show.An initial experience of my student life, it proved to be very crucial as it widened my horizons and led me to develop critical thinking and made me familiar with a city of Ahmedabad's scale.
