Worked in Dr. Zijie Yan's research group under the mentorship of Dr. Monika Kataria. Assisted the group in the research of perovskite materials and upconversion nanoparticles for applications in next generation medical therapy, imaging, and green energy. Published as co-author on one paper. Day-to-day tasks include the investigation and refinment of previously published synthetic procedures for the use of graduate research. Collaborated with and trained younger undergraduate students on synthetic procedures, microscopy, techniques, and research skills.

Utilized STATA in the cleaning and transformation of the 2018 Demographic and Health survey data of Zambia. Analyzed sample frames including ~15,000 participants. Utilized a combination of Python and R to perform statistical and geospatial analysis of various social and economic determinants of health in relation to indoor air pollution and negative health outcomes in women and children. Developed visualizations of data to aid in the communication and comprehension of the results. Produced a 20-page report summarizing key findings and placing results in context with previously reported literature regarding Sub-Saharan Africa.

Served as the director of the 501(c)3 nonprofit UNC Holi Moli. As director, led a team of 18 people and four committees (logistics, cultural, finance, publicity/design) in the planning, preparation, and execution of the largest student-led, cultural organization on UNC campus. As director, collaborated with members across all committees to enact strategies aimed at cutting financial costs, increasing student engagement, and streamlining logistics. The implementation of these strategies resulted in a significant increase in total revenue and event attendance compared to the year prior. Simultaneously Collaborated with the Gift of Life Marrow Registry to include a swab drive for underrepresented minorities to join the national marrow registry at the event. Platformed the non-profit Kiran NC and their mission against domestic violence in the NC South-Asian community.

Launched a 501(c)3 non-profit organization to create a school supply closet, eliminating the financial burden of necessary school resources and hygiene products from students and teachers. Established to increase educational equity in local communities of Union County, NC and decrease achievement gaps between schools within the county. Through the organization, engaged in community outreach and partnerships with various local institutions in order to to collect and distribute over $1,000 dollars’ worth of school supplies typically listed in the back-to-school shopping lists provided by county schools.
