I serve on the board of directors for the Montana Wildlife Federation. MWF is Montana’s oldest, largest, and most effective wildlife conservation organization. Our roots trace back to 1936 when hunters, anglers and other conservationists joined landowners to address the loss of Montana’s natural lands, healthy waters and abundant wildlife.

Assisting the original mountain man, Gary Steele, in helping children get outside and away from technology in order to reconnect with the natural world & place a value on wildlife conservation. Introducing primitive skills such as archery using long bow, tomahawk & knife throwing, orienteering, fire making, animal tracking, woodmanship & dutch oven cooking over the fire.

Mandela has been a student of Yoga for 18 years & the practice of Ashtanga Yoga has taken her to India & New Zealand, where she has completed three in depth studies. Mandela incorporates elements of Iyengar alignment & restorative Yoga but her focus is the study & Practice of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. She has overcome multiple injuries & consequential surgeries through Yoga. Mandela began teaching Yoga in mud surrounded by chickens in the townships of Southern Africa. Her favorite thing about Yoga is that it can be practiced anywhere in the world without any fancy clothing or equipment. Mandela incorporates 1% theory before each class begins & ends every class by bringing her students slowly out of Savasana with a sound bath of drowning didjeridu.

Driving fully loaded van and trailer through busy streets of Marrakech in additional to the 10-hour drive on narrow roads of the Atlas Mountains to rural warehouse and river put-in. Took on role as TL, safety kayak and guide for 4-day whitewater expeditions on the Ahanssel River (technical, low volume, steep class IV-V) through the “Grand Canyon of Morocco”. Took on role as sober Medic on trips. Managed multiple portages and lining of rafts around dangerous rapids, undercut rocks & nomadic bridges. Paddled ahead as a safety kayak in order to scout rapids before leading gear rigs down. Lead guide for local culture and public relations in Morocco.

• Guided 20 km expeditions through the fjord into the Tasman Sea. Responsible for up to eight guests in the most extreme weather conditions in the Southern Hemisphere. Prepared forexpeditions by studying weather systems. Mastered group management while kayaking in daily gale force winds. Towed multiple kayaks against strong offshore winds of up to 50 knots.

• Guided clients through the Orange River Gorge (class II-IV), one of Africa’s most remote rivers, which cuts through the southern Namib and Kalahari deserts. Preformed emergency medical care when needed for scorpion stings, burns, bites and the like. • Kept baboons at bay, portaged waterfalls, setup safety, preformed rescues, repaired gear boats, cooked, cared for and maintained a safe environment in the harsh deserts of Southern Namibia. • Additionally, guided students through mountain trekking expeditions in the Western Cape.
