In 2010, when in my role of Office Manager, I found that out all my many and varied responsibilities, medical billing and the revenue cycle management process endlessly fascinating. Researching claim denials would send me down paths of the most complex system of hoops to fully comprehend the rationale behind insurers’ clinical policies that guide the decision to reimburse or deny a claim. To explore medical billing, coding and the revenue cycle management process I advanced my career to NextGen Healthcare as Medical Billing Specialist, III. I spent 5 years in that role expanding my knowledge, identifying denial trends and determining root causes. Which ultimately resulted massively increasing collected money, and reduced total AR overall. It also resulted with implementing new technologies and processes to prevent any future denials. I began to notice that a good part of the reason a claim was adjudicated correctly on a first pass greatly impacted by how complete, and well a clients’ database was configured. If a database is setup poorly, odds of claims billing out with the correct formatting decrease greatly, which then in turn affect collection on claims on the first pass”. If the database isn’t setup right, nothing else is right. It starts there. Which is how I ended up applying to the support team in 2019 and gratefully, earning the role. Now I work with all of the new and exciting applications the NextGen interfaces with. I work with people from all over the company helping them obtain the access they need to do their jobs, troubleshoot website access issues, open tickets on their behalf to other teams for more complex request, and so much more. In March 2022 I earned my NCP - PM certification which was a proud moment for me.
