Involved in the smooth running and operation of a small takeaway business for over six years. Duty involved food preparation, customer relations and the training and induction of new staff. Communication was a key aspect in ensuring that customers and employees were handled effectively and good telephone skills used daily.

My responsibilities as a community care worker involved taking initiative and working both as an individual when visiting clients place of residence to see to any domestic needs, or working with another team member to address a clients more advanced needs. My role also included the drawing up of timesheets for the office as well as being able to punctually follow a set rota and prioritising of tasks in order to address a number of clients needs at the appropriate time. Training in food hygiene, manual handling, health and safety and vulnerable adults was also undertaken during my time at this post.

Involved working with a group of individuals in the planning, organising and decorating of a children’s ward in hospital. Project required approaching big companies to ask for any donations of paint that could be given to the hospital in order for us to redecorate the children’s ward.

As a voluntary classroom assistant I was able to engage in communicating and building a rapport with a class of children and its teacher whilst aiding in the improvement of maths and reading skills. By working alongside the class teacher I was able to enhance my skills in working as part of a team in order to promote the well-being of the children.
