The Office of External Programs, Internships, & Career Services (EPICS) empowers students to develop their career strategy and engage in the global marketplace. EPICS is housed within Northwestern University School of Communication. I supported the career development for the MSLCE students in addition to all School of Communication students. I also managed a portfolio of employers interested in recruiting School of Communication students. More specifically my role entailed:• Providing personalized career coaching for students which focuses on self-assessment, research, personal branding, job and internship search strategies, reflection, and strategic planning/decision making• Planning and executing professional programming, career workshops, and industry engagement opportunities for students• Instructing and coordinating professional development, career, and internship courses• Providing instructional support to a quarterly professional development course • Developing and managing relationships with employers and their recruitment efforts with the School of Communication for full-time, internship, apprenticeship, and fellowship opportunities• Supporting the marketing and admissions operations for the program

EPICS prepares students for the creative economy. Serving students within the School of Communication (SoC), EPICS helps students learn about themselves, what opportunities exist for them, and how to develop as professionals. As EPICS Coordinator, there were many aspects to my role. • Coordinated and promoted events/workshops related to career development and the industries our students are exploring• Lead system manager of career management platform, CSO • Spearheaded the transition/implementation of career management systems from Symplicity to CSO • Coordinated academic internship program including student and employer relations, applications, and evaluations of experiences• Organized and managed logistics for international seminars to India, London, Paris and Prague • Developed and managed Social Media strategies for platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and blogs • Provided career coaching and internship advising to SoC students• Taught a course which provides academic structure and career guidance while students are engaged in professional internships
