Designed a functional, one-handed video game controller (inControl) with a team of three others; collaborated with group members to write and file a provisional patent and later, a non-provisional patent for our design; initiated the process of securing a partnership with a manufacturer in order to place our product on the market.

Collaborated with a PhD candidate and another research assistant to form and refine a codebook to classify audience-reaching strategies on Facebook, applied a constructivist grounded theory to identify patterns in qualitative data from an interview study about transgender users of dating apps, organized participant data, applied qualitative coding techniques to literature using the software MAXQDA to theorize about a PhD candidate’s dissertation on algorithmic folk theories, completed a second qualitative coding pass on data derived from an Asynchronous Research Community, and conducted a side project on platform literacy and new literacies to provide guidance on the dissertation’s perspective on these topics.

Led a camp, events, and drop-in tutoring sessions to teach kids how to code using Scratch; introduced essential computer science concepts, developed STEM-related educational activities, guided kids through building games using Scratch, debug code
