Associate Director, Conservation Architect, NLA Expert Panel Retrofit & Conservation, I am a senior-level architect with 20 years of international experience working across a range of capital projects with a focus on cultural and education projects in historic complex settings. Working in the construction industry for over 25 years, I have worked in a number of roles and am a Conservation Architect since 2016, focusing on adaptive reuse, new build in historic settings and sustainable design. I have led large project teams, advised and directed major clients for commercial and heritage projects ranging from £3million to 50million through all stages from briefing to hand over. I successfully completed the design and delivery of The Queen’s College Library, Corpus Christi auditorium and the Cheng Yu Tung Building for Jesus College, Oxford. Within my conservation and technical role I deliver complex aspects of design, such as the conservation and façade design, tender and delivery for Centre Point, London. I am currently working on a number of educational, conservation and adaptation projects within the UK. Architecture has been an important part of my life; discovering the built environment, understanding its cultural and socioeconomic heritage, developing new ideas, assisting others in understanding theirs. I am a keen learner and am investing in understanding the changes within the industry whether in sustainability or through the introduction of new technologies. I am increasingly aware of our crucial role in navigating the required changes in tackling climate change, since 2022 I am a member of the Architects Declare Steering group.My continuous involvement in education, such as my role as visiting critic in Bath University since 2013, TU Dresden Germany and at Oxford Brookes ensures a close connection to progress. I am an advocate for training skills and the enhancement of mentoring relationships within the built environment. I have developed and implemented the MICA mentoring program.
